The Lealman Community Association has adopted a stretch of 54th Avenue North from 52nd Street to 40th Street and committed to four cleanups per year over the next two years.
The first cleanup took place on March 8th, when five volunteers collected an estimated 50 pounds of trash along the corridor.
The next cleanup is planned for late May as part of the Keep Pinellas Beautiful Great American Cleanup initiative. Volunteers will start near Memorial Gardens at 54th Avenue North and 52nd Street North. The final date has not yet been set.
Bags and gloves are provided. Volunteers should bring water, sun protection, and any tools they prefer, such as a litter picker. Older children are welcome with parent permission and a completed waiver.
Official Keep Pinellas Beautiful signage recognizing the LCA adoption is expected to be installed at both ends of the corridor within the next month.
Anyone interested in joining a future cleanup can connect with the Lealman Community Association. It is a straightforward way to meet neighbors and make a visible difference in the neighborhood.
To connect with the LCA, follow them on Facebook, email lealmancommunityassociation@gmail.com, or attend a first Wednesday in-person meeting. The next meeting is at Lealman Exchange on May 6th.
