The Lealman Exchange, managed by the St. Petersburg Foundation, is thrilled to announce the second session of its Free Swim Lessons program, designed for children and teens in the Lealman area. The program will kick off on September 7 and run through October 26, offering an 8-week course open to Lealman residents of all swim skill levels.

The Free Swim Lessons program will be held every Saturday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA. Each session includes a 30-minute swim lesson followed by a 30-minute free swim period, giving participants the chance to practice their skills and enjoy the water. The program is available to children aged 6 to 16, and no prior swimming experience is required.

In addition to the lessons, optional transportation to and from the Lealman Exchange is provided, ensuring that all interested youth have the opportunity to participate. This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of both the Lealman Exchange and the Gills YMCA to promote water safety and provide valuable life skills to the community’s young people.

Registration is now open for the second session. Parents and guardians can sign up their children by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer or by visiting Eventbrite.

“We are excited to continue this program and offer free swim lessons to the Lealman youth,” said a spokesperson for the St. Petersburg Foundation. “Swimming is not only a fun activity but also a critical life skill, and we are proud to make it accessible to all families in our community.”
