Water spans across oceans, lakes, streams, and even swimming pools, covering a substantial 71% of the Earth’s surface. While it offers exciting opportunities for exploration and enjoyment, it also poses risks, especially for those lacking water safety skills.
In an effort to prevent drownings, the YMCAs of Tampa Bay have partnered to introduce the Safety Around Water program, offering complimentary swim lessons and water safety education for children in the Tampa Bay area.
The program, spanning four days, caters to non-swimmers aged 3 to 12, focusing on various skills including water acclimatization exercises, “Jump, Push, Turn, Grab,” and “Swim, Float, Swim” techniques, and emergency response protocols. Additionally, engaging activities reinforce these essential skills.
Parents are urged to enroll their children in this FREE program to help them gain confidence, learn valuable skills, enjoy physical activity, and most importantly, stay safe around water.
